A side customer of mine has been chasing a popping noise when taking off for a while. His motor mounts needed to changed … like a decade ago, but I got it done. But we discovered at least one of the drum brakes binding up and not releasing when the parking brake is dropped. Last night, I did the initial peel and eek. The Philips head drum bolt came out with almost no convincing and I was treated to a nice spot of anti seize residue the last mechanic took the time to apply. My customer got the vehicle eight years ago and nobody looked at or touched the rear brakes since he got it.
This corner looked fine, but the other side has a leaking cylinder and everything wet and gummed up. The adjuster overextended and caused it bind up along with the popping when broken loose by the engine.
